Local acquiring

Processing card payments through an acquirer in the same country as the card issuer.

When the acquirer and issuer are in the same country, the transaction is usually classified as domestic. Domestic transactions tend to be approved more often and can carry lower interchange and scheme fees.

Merchants selling into several markets often use local acquiring in their largest ones and cross-border acquiring elsewhere.
