International Orders and Meridian Freight partner on duty-paid delivery

A fictional partnership connecting landed cost quotes at checkout with customs clearance, so duty-paid parcels clear without asking the shopper for more.

International Orders and Meridian Freight are both fictional companies used in a product prototype. This announcement is placeholder content.

International Orders today announced a partnership with Meridian Freight, a cross-border parcel carrier (fictional company), to connect duty and tax quotes taken at checkout with customs clearance at the destination.

What the partnership does

When a seller collects duties and taxes at checkout using Landed Cost, the quote is attached to the order. With this partnership, that quote passes directly to Meridian Freight's clearance team when the parcel ships. The amount collected from the shopper and the amount declared at the border come from the same record.

For the seller, this means:

  • No re-keying of duty and tax amounts between systems.
  • Fewer parcels held at customs for missing or inconsistent data.
  • A single reconciliation report covering what was collected and what was remitted.

For the shopper, it means the parcel arrives without a request for further payment.

Coverage

The integration is available for shipments into 18 destination markets at launch (illustrative figure), including Germany, the United Kingdom and Japan.

"Sellers want one answer to the question of who pays duty and when," said Hannah Pereira, Director of Partnerships at International Orders (fictional person). "Connecting the checkout and the carrier gives them that."

How it works for returns

When a duty-paid parcel is returned, the original quote and clearance record are linked to the return. Where the destination market allows duty and tax to be reclaimed, the reclaim request can be prepared from the same record.

Availability

Sellers using Meridian Freight can enable the connection in the International Orders dashboard. No code changes are required for orders already using Landed Cost.
