International OrdersInternational Orders

For developers

One API for the whole cross-border order

Create an order, render a localised checkout, quote duties and pay out, with consistent objects and predictable webhooks. Test it all in the sandbox first.

~/shop · zsh
$ npm install @international-orders/node
added 1 package in 1.2s
$ io orders create --currency EUR --amount 12900 --ship-to DE
{ "id": "ord_7Hc2kQ9xL4mP", "status": "requires_payment",
  "methods": ["card", "klarna", "paypal", "sepa_debit"],
  "landed_cost": { "duty": 0, "vat": 2451, "currency": "EUR" } }
$ io listen --forward-to localhost:3000/webhooks
✓ order.paid  ord_7Hc2kQ9xL4mP  →  200 OK (38 ms)

From zero to a test payment

Follow the quickstart
  1. 1

    Create a sandbox account

    Sign up with your work email. The sandbox has every product and local method, and nothing in it moves real money.

  2. 2

    Get your test keys

    Copy your publishable key for the browser and your secret key for your server. Keep the secret key out of client code and version control.

  3. 3

    Create an order on your server

    An order holds the amount, currency, items and destination. We use it to pick methods, quote duties and route the payment.

  4. 4

    Render Checkout Components

    Mount the checkout with the order's client secret. It shows the right methods, language and duty-inclusive total for the shopper.

  5. 5

    Handle the order.paid webhook

    Fulfil from the webhook, not the browser redirect. Verify the signature, respond quickly, and process the event idempotently.

API playground

Pick an endpoint, edit the request body and send it. Responses are mocked in your browser, with realistic latency and status codes.

POST /v1/orders

Create an order for a cross-border purchase. The response includes a client_secret for the browser.

Response
Send the request to see a mock response.
curl https://api.international-orders.com/v1/orders \
  -u sk_test_...: \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{"currency":"EUR","amount":12900,"settlement_currency":"USD","shipping":{"country":"DE","postal_code":"10115"},"items":[{"name":"Wool scarf","hs_code":"6117.10","quantity":1,"unit_amount":12900}]}'

Mock responses for the prototype. Nothing leaves your browser.
