Payment facilitator
A company that onboards sub-merchants and processes their payments under its own acquiring relationship.
A payment facilitator (payfac) holds a master merchant account and lets smaller businesses accept payments without each one contracting with an acquirer.
In return, the payfac is responsible for onboarding, KYB, risk monitoring and paying out its sub-merchants.
