Capture
The step that turns an approved authorisation into a charge that will be settled.
After authorisation, the merchant sends a capture request to collect the funds. Some businesses capture immediately; others, such as hotels or retailers that ship later, capture when the service is delivered or the goods dispatched.
Partial capture lets a merchant collect less than was authorised, for example when part of an order is out of stock. Uncaptured authorisations expire after a period set by the scheme.
