Scheme fees
Fees charged by the card networks for using their infrastructure.
Scheme fees cover the network's role in routing authorisations, clearing and settling transactions. They are separate from interchange and are paid by the acquirer, which passes them on to the merchant.
They include many small line items, some per transaction and some by volume, and are generally higher for cross-border transactions.
