Payments
Payouts
Send money to your bank or to sellers and suppliers in 40+ currencies, on a schedule or on demand, and track each transfer.
A payout moves money from your International Orders balance to a bank account. Use payouts to settle your own funds, or to pay sellers, suppliers and partners around the world.
This is preview documentation for a prototype. Endpoints, fields and keys are illustrative.
Automatic payouts
By default, your available balance is paid to your main bank account on a schedule. Choose daily, weekly or monthly in the dashboard. Funds become available after a short settlement delay that depends on the payment method and your account.
You don't need any code for automatic payouts. You receive payout.created and payout.paid events for each one.
Send a payout
To pay someone else, or to pay yourself on demand, create a payout:

Bank details by country
Each country uses its own account format. The API validates details before sending.
| Country | Required fields |
|---|---|
| Eurozone | iban |
| United Kingdom | sort_code, account_number |
| United States | routing_number, account_number, account_type |
| Mexico | clabe |
| India | ifsc, account_number |
| Australia | bsb, account_number |
Invalid details return 400 with the code invalid_bank_account before any money moves. See Errors.
Payout status
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
pending | Created, waiting to be sent |
in_transit | Sent to the local payment network |
paid | The receiving bank has accepted it |
failed | Rejected. Funds return to your balance |
cancelled | Cancelled before sending |
You can cancel a payout while it's pending. Once it's in_transit, it can only be returned by the recipient's bank.
When payouts fail
A failed payout includes a failure_code, such as account_closed or name_mismatch. The money returns to your balance, in the source currency, within a few business days. Correct the details and send a new payout.
